To take a leadership role for all ISO/GLP accreditations and have ownership of quality management systems in Cefas, to address and meet the needs of quality management systems (e.g. GLP, ISO17025, ISO9001).

The value to Cefas of maintaining quality management systems includes;
• The increased confidence and perceptions of senior leadership and external customers in business management process / scientific procedures that we operate.
• Consistency of business management standards used within Cefas to enable effective and efficient and repeatable delivery by competent employees.
Professional management of Deputy Quality Managers and auditors to ensure that the assurance of processes and systems are effectively carried out and staff supported in quality matters.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To lead the implementation of quality management systems in Cefas.
• To promote best practice and provide advice, guidance and training to staff on Cefas’ quality management systems.
• To sponsor the production and control of quality related documents as required by the quality standards.
• To provide support and coordination functions for external audit activity, internal audit management and internal audits for existing quality standards.
• To produce reports and analysis from quality management systems to show Cefas’ performance in relation to quality, evaluate findings and learnings and offer guidance and direction to the organisation on how to make improvements.
• To assist staff with Quality Incident Investigations in producing and disseminating organisational learning, liaising with colleagues in specialist areas to inform their recommendations for resolution and improvements.

QUALIFICATIONS / TECHNICAL
• Degree or equivalent in a suitable associated subject
• Sound understanding of technical or scientific ISO standards
• Confident user of ICT equipment

Experience of managing or being involved with:
• Laboratory or equivalent working environment
• Quality management systems (accredited/certified)
• Computer based systems for data and information management

You must also have the following:
• Ability to communicate clearly using both verbal, presentational and written approaches at strategic and operational levels
• Ability to analyse the implementation of defined processes and procedures taking evidence to provide an evaluation of effectiveness and compliance.
