About us

We are National Grid, and we are at the heart of the UK’s energy systems. From heating homes to making sure businesses fire on all cylinders, we’re using our engineering excellence to connect people and the planet.

We make possible the energy systems of tomorrow. In the South West we’re connecting EDF’s new nuclear power station to the country’s electricity network.

Over the next seven years we’ll build 57km of new pylons, underground cable and substations to extend our network through Somerset, across the outskirts of Bristol and into South Gloucestershire. It will herald a new era of pylon design and leave parts of the Mendips AONB landscape free from electricity infrastructure for the first time in a generation.

There are a number of exciting opportunities available now for you to join the Hinkley Connection Project and be part of the team who will connect the first nuclear power station in a generation to the National Grid.
