Role Overview

This position owns the execution of Quality Assurance operational goals and plans. May lead multiple teams responsible for Quality Assurance for a large organization. Sets direction and leads resources to ensure continuous quality improvement. Provides guidance across the organization in the implementation of plans and procedures that drive achievement of Quality goals.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Responsible for managing Collins strategy and management of policies and procedures for achieving and maintaining customer quality performance. This role serves as the face to the customer for Electric Systems Quality.
* Maintain focus on customer quality improvement activities that are the baseline for the Program Quality group function, i.e. Scorecard's Quality index's, MFA's etc.
* Facilitate Preventative & Corrective actions concurrently with the internal Operations Quality Assurance and Supplier Quality groups within ES QA scope towards quick resolution/responses to our customer.
* Mentor Program Quality Managers staff and partner with Operations, Engineering, and Supplier Quality to ensure effective "root cause" analysis, corrective and preventative action is taken on both external and internal escapes. This position could include the training of other groups on a routine basis.
* Responsible for coordination and preparation of presentation material and logistics for customer visits, both internal and external.
* Establish and manage automated Program Quality Reporting metrics in order to meet customer and company goals and objectives.
* Responsible for ensuring that clear and timely information is given to the Advance Quality Engineering group for applying lessons learned to new product launches.
* Responsible for supervising, mentoring/coaching, and training Program Quality Managers to obtain specific department goals.
* Responsible for resolving critical issues/situations ensuring that they are handled correctly and within current policy/procedure guide lines.
* Responsible for the strategic planning, development and administration for assigned staff including budget management, contract support as needed to achieve objectives.
* Responsible for coordinating special cause actions for development programs including quality plan development and negotiation with the customer, collaboration with the customer for development of key product/process metrics.
* Support Program Quality Manager staff as they collaborate internally with engineering and program office on new product development and conformity needs for hardware, labs and test equipment.

Education:

* Bachelor's degree in a relevant Engineering discipline from an accredited university.

Preferred Education:

* Advanced degree in a relevant Engineering discipline from an accredited university.

Qualifications:

* Minimum of 10 years of experience in a quality engineering position dealing with manufacturing quality process techniques and quality improvement programs.
* Candidate should possess basic knowledge in the manufacturing/processing of electrical/mechanical and electronic devices.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Basic knowledge of APQP process is preferred.
* Experience in aerospace AS9100C QMS requirements customer/supplier relationships.
