Overview

Position Summary : The Design Validation Engineer I is responsible for conducting structural analysis of the overall seat design and individual components. Position is an integral part of the design validation team that defines and organizes the validation process to ensure a seat meets the full spectrum of structural and body mechanics impact criteria.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

* By use of hand calculations or numerical stress analysis, support design validation team in setting up finite element models for validation of seat design.
* Aid DV team in analysis (FEA) of new component designs.
* Support of evaluation of actual test results/drawings with recommendation of design improvements in conjunction with engineering staff.
* Under direct supervision, perform component abuse load tests by providing test plans and witnessing tests.
* Perform Interface loads analysis and internal forces/deflections analysis for seats.

Qualifications

Education/Experience:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required preferably in Aerospace / Mechanical / other structural engineering streams.

Technical Skills and Experience Requirements

* Evidence of ability to hand calculate generating reserve factors, at limit and ultimate load conditions using classical methods or methods described by Tom Rhodes.
* Knowledge of LS-Dyna or similar software and ANSA or similar pre-processor software is desired.
* Motivation & urge to learn through interaction.
* Possess the drive to understand the know-how of relevant software tools.
* Experience in use of dynamic simulation is desired.
* Experience in use of a 3D modeling software is desired.
* Relevant Internship experience will be considered.
* Good verbal and written communication skills are required.
* Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team.
