The Quality Engineer, the primary objective of this role is to support the production of high quality custom storage systems. He/she is responsible for applying and performing quality engineering duties, skills, and techniques to ensure product meets and exceeds customer requirements. Provide support to the overall Quality Management System in support of customer requirements, company goals and all quality initiatives. The successful candidate for this position must be a problem-solver at his/her core, have a strong quality & customer-focused mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement (personally and professionally).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

* Interface with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and other departments to resolve processes and product quality issues using structured problem solving.
* Support Customer Service department with tracking and actions required on all quality issues.
* Conduct failure analysis of all external quality issues and prepare customer correspondence when necessary.
* Develop and perform quality assessments of suppliers and follow up with documented results and actions.
* Perform evaluations on supplier related defective parts from incoming inspection and manufacturing, create disposition, and communicate results to suppliers and management.
* Generate corrective actions internally and with suppliers. Drive follow up for proper results.
* Provide timely internal and external communications on assigned projects to all stakeholders to ensure timely decision making and reduced manufacturing disruptions.
* Support Production Provide quality systems and product training to manufacturing work force.
* Determine best process improvement activities based on defined opportunity: PDCA, DMAIC, Kepner Trego, 8D, Fishbone etc.
* Participate in MFG Continuous Improvement Activities - Take part or facilitate the team Lean strategies and methodologies and / or Six Sigma activities.
* Submit formal projects (including any Capital or Expenses including ROI) to Tech Manager for approval.
* Develop and implement standard operating procedures with MFG Engineer
* Document and train all impacted individuals
* Attend standard meeting schedule:

* Bachelors of Science Degree in an engineering/Technical discipline.
* Must have 2 years related experience working in manufacturing or assembly processes
* Internships do not qualify as experience
* Knowledge of manufacturing / mechanical processes and equipment
* Knowledge of computer or PLC based machine control systems is desirable
* CAD experience (SolidWorks, AutoCAD)
* Knowledge of Lean / Six Sigma theory and practices is desirable
* 1 year of user experience with MRP systems required (Epicor preferred)
* Strong skills utilizing Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint) with the ability to learn new systems and tools quickly
